Museums Association of the Caribbean 30th Annual Conference

This past month, our very own marketing coordinator, Tiara Webb represented not only Masterworks Museum of Bermuda Art but Bermuda as a delegate at the 30th Annual Museums Association of the Caribbean (MAC) conference, held in Fort-de-France, Martinique from November 12th until the 16th. 

The theme of the conference was The Museum: Identity Maker, Actor of Cultural and Socio-economic Development in the Caribbean and its Diasporas. As a first time delegate, she experienced various bilingual immersive seminars and presentations, interactive workshops, and plenaries touching on various subjects including promoting cultural identity, art history in museums, conservation of heritage and indigenous memory, fellowships as an extension of our roots and legacy, genealogy in museums museums in the digital age, and understanding the power of play. 

In addition, she experienced cultural tours in the Caribbean and Atlantic Coast of the country, visiting various museums such as the Museum of History and Ethnography, Interpretation Center Paul Gauguin, Saint Pierre Museum, Rum Museum, Museum of the Banana and Father Pinchon’s Museum.

She was appointed a member of the Communications Committee for the Museums Association of the Conference by the MAC President, Natalie Urquhart.
